Terms of Reference: Parent’s Panel for YoungMinds Parent Helpline Service

 

  1. Purpose and Objective

 

The Parent’s Panel for YoungMinds Parent Helpline Service (“the Panel”) is established to provide a platform for diverse parents and caregivers to contribute valuable insights, feedback, and recommendations. This panel aims to act as a sounding board for emerging Parent Helpline Service developments and ideas. The primary goal is to ensure that the services offered effectively meet the needs of parents and caregivers seeking support and guidance from YoungMinds.

 

  1. Composition and Diversity

 

The Panel shall consist of a diverse group of parents and caregivers representing various backgrounds, demographics, and experiences. Members shall be selected to ensure diversity in terms of:

 

– Geographic Location: Representing different regions and urban/rural settings.

– Cultural Background: Reflecting a broad spectrum of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

– Family Structure: Including single parents, couples, guardians, and caregivers.

– Child’s Age Range: Covering children of different age groups and developmental stages.

– Life Experiences: Incorporating a range of parenting experiences, including those with children facing specific challenges or conditions.

 

  1. Roles and Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities of the Parent’s Panel members include:

 

– Active Participation: Attend regular meetings and actively engage in discussions.

– Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback and insights on YoungMinds Parent Helpline Services, materials, and resources.

– Review Developments: Act as a sounding board for emerging service developments and ideas, providing input and suggestions.

– Advocate for Parents: Represent the interests and perspectives of parents and caregivers.

– Maintain Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of shared information and discussions within the panel.

– Collaborate: Work collaboratively with YoungMinds staff and other panel members in a respectful and open-minded manner.

 

  1. Meeting Frequency and Format

 

The Panel shall meet regularly, with meeting frequency determined by mutual agreement. Meetings may be in-person or virtually, depending on the circumstances and member preferences. YoungMinds staff will coordinate and facilitate meetings.

 

  1. Support and Resources

 

YoungMinds will provide necessary resources, materials, and information to assist the Panel in fulfilling its responsibilities effectively. This may include access to relevant research, materials, and updates on Parent Helpline Service developments.

 

  1. Duration and Review

 

The Parent’s Panel shall serve for a defined period, typically one to two years, with the option for members to renew their term. At the end of the term, a review will be conducted to assess the Panel’s effectiveness and whether any changes or adjustments are needed.

 

  1. Reporting

 

The Panel will provide periodic reports summarizing its discussions, recommendations, and insights to YoungMinds management. These reports will help inform decision-making and service improvements.
